My latest piece, Rivers of the Ocean for high voice, alto saxophone and piano, was premiered in Paris (Henri Selmer Showroom) on September 30 and received the second performance in Bordeaux (Conservatoire de Bordeaux Jacques Thibaud) on October 2 as a part of concerts in Semaine des Cultures Étrangères 2015 (The Week of Foreign Cultures 2015) in France. In this video, it is presenting the concerts and conferences held by Centre culturel de Taïwan à Paris (Cultural Center of Paris to Taiwan) during Semaine des Cultures Étrangères 2015.
This video is mainly using several excerpts of my Rivers of the Ocean as the background music.
Rivers of the Ocean was commissioned by Yachia Trio (Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei, Shyen Lee, Wen-Hui Lily Lin), and was premiered during their France tour concerts. The concert in Paris was the debut of my music in France as well. Thank the poet Ka-Shiang Liu for kindly allowing me to use his poem, Rivers of the Ocean, in my music. Without his touching poem, this piece could not be composed. Thank Yachia Trio for bringing this piece to France with their wonderful performances. As a composer, it is always my pleasure to work with such great musicians. Furthermore, thank Centre culturel de Taïwan à Paris with lots of efforts to support this piece and make the performances possible.
